[ESS] problems with ESS

Hi,
I try to use ESS (5.2.5) on a SGI (IRIX 6.5) machine. Unfortunately 
emerged an error message I can't handle. With the -debug-init command of 
the XEMACS (21.4)  the following text was shown.

I didn't change the file "ess-site.el" because I can't see if there is 
any need to do so. I hope you can give me some useful hints. Thanks for
