[ESS] Have you considered support for PSPP?

actually, it was considered around 20 years ago, at the end of the 90s ...
part of my misguided belief in universal theories of everything including
data science UIs.  but it didn't seem very likely to survive, so very
little effort was made.

I'm (pleasantly) surprised to hear about it again, actually.  But have
moved on to common lisp for my outside of work activities, so don't offer
to help.
