[ESS] Running Stata In Emacs on Windows 7?

I've been quite happily running Stata though emacs with ESS on my
Ubuntu machine.  Most unfortunately for me, I'm now in a position in
which I must use Windows 7.  I'd like to, as much as possible,
replicate the working set up I had on Ubuntu.  I'm having difficulty
getting emacs to run Stata.

According to this blog post written two years ago,
http://blog.modelworks.ch/?p=75, it's not possible.

Is it still not possible?  I've amended my PATH variable to include
that Stata11 directory, but I still get "Searching for program: no
such file or directory, env"

Is there any hope?
