[ESS] automatic line breaks

I'd like to turn off a feature that I encounter when editing LaTeX or
Sweave files.

When typing paragraphs, hitting the space bar triggers and automatic
line break once a certain number of characters is reached.

I've looked thorough the ESS documentation, but I must not know the
correct terminology for this.

I'm using GNU Emacs 23.2.50.1 (i386-apple-darwin9.8.0, NS
apple-appkit-949.54) of 2010-08-18 on braeburn.aquamacs.org - Aquamacs
Distribution 2.1.

btw - is there a command to get the ESS version?
