[ESS] Error message: "No ESS process is associated with this buffer now"

ess-remote didn't help. However  ess-force-buffer-current invoked from the current R-source buffer, say foo.R, does the trick.

I put the following in my .emacs so I can refer to it when needed:

; If I start S+/R in an ordinary shell, to convert to ESS buffer use:
;     (ess-remote)

In other words, start a shell, give a command to start S+ or R,
then do M-x ess-remote

>Is there a way to 'manually' assign an R proccess to a buffer?
