I put the following in my .emacs so I can refer to it when needed:

; If I start S+/R in an ordinary shell, to convert to ESS buffer use:
; (ess-remote)

In other words, start a shell, give a command to start S+ or R,
then do M-x ess-remote

>Is there a way to 'manually' assign an R proccess to a buffer?
