[ESS] back/forwardslash incompatability

Thanks for the quick response, but the problem is that
xemacs is naming the buffer using single "\"s.
I'm just typing in C-c C-l, so there is no
direct way of using a double backslash.
How do I tell emacs to either use / or to use \\
instead?
