Drama printing from a graphics window using R 1.9.0 patched, ess 5.2.2, and WinXP...

Do you have the same problem running Rterm.exe without Emacs/ESS?  If
so, then it's an R problem.  Otherwise, it's an Emacs problem (and
we'll have to put on our thinking caps).
