Fw: ESS and grid

Dear ESS folks,

recently, I encountered a mysterious phaenomenon using ESS and the R
grid package:

Whenever I call grid.newpage() at the command prompt, Emacs opens a .rt
transcript-Buffer.
I don't think this is intended, so where could I look to track this
down?

I am using the latest R-devel build, Emacs 21.3.1, and ESS 5.1.24 (not
the latest version, as I can see).
