S+6 setup for Unix

I'm trying to setup S+6 on our Unix system so that our ESS users will not have
to customize/hack/etc. I've discovered that we need to do:
(setq-default inferior-S+6-program-name "Splus")
But, I'm not sure about some other settings. For example,
inferior-S+6-print-command is S_PRINT_COMMAND=gnuclientw.exe
I suspect that S_PRINT_COMMAND=gnuclient might be more appropriate, but how do I
test that? The description of it implies that it is for Windows-only, so can I
just ignore it? Finally, ess-S+6-startup-delay is set to 60 seconds which seems
like an eternity. The discussion of this variable in ess-site.el only mentions
Windows. Can/should this be changed for Unix? I tried to look these up in the
manual, but neither Help for the S family nor Unix installation seemed to
address these. Did I miss it or should I be looking somewhere else?
