.emacs file for Unix.

Hello everyone,
I have been using S+ through ESS and Emacs under Window NT for quite some
time. I am now moving to a Unix platform. Following Rich Heiberger's
(thanks Rich) instructions I have used S-elswhere to access S+ on the Unix
platform; it works fairly well except for getting help from S+. We have a
Unix 64-bit version of S+ for which there is no Java support for the
moment; the help is provided through the Lynx system I think. For reasons
unknown to me the help gets back to the ESS buffer in a way that is
extremely hard to read, control characters are mixed in with the text
throughout?
At this moment I am under pressure to produce statistical analyses and I
don't have time to cleanup my own NT ".emacs" file so it would work under
Unix. As Emacs, 20.7, is installed on the Unix machine I was wondering
if anyone had a ".emacs" file, setting up reasonnable defaults for Emacs
and ESS of course, they would share.
Thank you very much,
Gérald Jean
