use ESS-5.1.21 and XEmacs 21.4.6 on Windows NT

Hi,

I had recently downloaded XEmacs 21.4.6 and ESS-5.1.21 on my Windows NT. I was reading the instructions in the "Microsoft Windows installation" section of the 'Readme' file (for installing ESS package) obtained from this web site (http://www.stat.math.ethz.ch/ESS/Readme/readme_toc.html ). But I could not find the '.emacs' (or _emacs, or default.el, or init.el) file on my PC to add the path information as instructed (This is for my own use, not for site installation). I did find a 'sample.init.el' file, but I suspect that's the one I was looking for to modify. Could you provide me some insight on how I should go around solving this problem?
