Exactly the same capabilities are available with NTemacs.

Edit your .emacs file with
   C-x C-f ~/.emacs 
(it may be ~/_emacs on your system)

add the two lines

(setq inferior-R-program-name "C:/PROGRA~1/R/rw1041/bin/Rterm")
(load-file "C:/ess/ess-5.1.19/lisp/ess-site.el")

and save it with C-x C-s

Now
   M-x R
will work correctly.
