R command name completion on Xemacs for Win2000

Hi!

I'm using R1.4.1 together with XEmacs 21.4 with ESS 5.1.20 on a Win2000 
machine.

My problem is:
After starting iESS by doing M-x R, when I try to obtain the completion of R 
commands by hitting the TAB key I get the message:
"No ESS process is associated with this buffer now."

I've searched the documentation comming with ESS and had a look at my 
ess-site.el and I was not able to solve this problem.

Incidentally I use the same setup (except for XEmacs which is version 21.1) 
on a Red Hat 7.2 Linux machine, and I do not have this problem.

Any help would be very welcome.
