Doug, I don't see the write protection on any subdirectories of doc.
Many of the files themselves are r--r--r-- becasue on Windows, with limited
file control (there is no concept of owner,group,all), we want to
make it difficult for a user to accidentally overwrite a file.
Thus in the lisp directory, the only .el file that can be written on is
ess-site.el.
