Camm,

I have been having some problems with ess on my laptop so I grabbed
the 5.1.19 sources from ess.stat.wisc.edu, transferred the debian
directory from the ess_5.1.18-4 Debian package, added a new version
to the changelog file and built a 5.1.19-0 package. I installed that
in the archive on http://cran.us.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian, which
will be mirrored on the other CRAN archives.

The compilation of the Debian package went smoothly as did the
installation. The only gliches were because the original tar file does
not have write permission for the owner in a couple of subdirectories
of doc. (Does anyone on the ess team know why?)

Do you think you will be able to release a 5.1.19 package in time for
the Debian 3.0 freeze? I think you can more-or-less take what I build
for 5.1.19-0 and just change the version number and signature.
