ess-mode 5.1.18; when i load a sas file it does not go into sas mode. it reports that i have a file specification error: selecting deleted buffer

ess-help:

Not sure exactly what the problem is, but I recommended Joel switch to 5.1.17 
because of the underscore issue anyway and 5.1.17 seems to work fine for him.
