ESS auto-completion and help() faster?

Thanks for the very quick response. 

Do you have any recommendations for a work-around on the help slowness?
Maybe the compiled html help that is available with windows? I couldn't seem
to make this work by doing help(.., chmhelp = T) from the command line
prompt.

Known problem. 

I finally have obtained windows/linux laptop, so am looking at this
(and XEmacs/ESS configs) for ESS 5.2.0
