Problems installing ESS on Sun Solaris with XEmacs 21.1

Sure. He (or you) needs to get the sumo-package tarball from
xemacs.org and he needs to install it. In particular, you probably
need the "efs" package installed. Once that is installed, then the
pull-down menus and the XEmacs package system can be used to install
(or more importantly, update) comint (and 60+ other packages). I'd
just select all unless you are tight on space).
The sumo package tarball is:
ftp.xemacs.org:/pub/xemacs/packages/xemacs-sumo.tar.gz
and needs to be unpacked in a place that I can't recall, right now.

I _REALLY_ need to get ESS into the default XEmacs distribution.
