Suggestions:
1. DON'T COMPILE, see if it works without that (just load ess-site in,
compiling is definitely optional on any reasonable (Intel/AMD >
350Mhz) machine, and in fact is how I use it for both ESS
development as well as day-to-day work...
2. Verify that Rterm.exe works for you in a MS shell windows! (there
are reports on the R list that it doesn't, under Win2k).
