weird thing with help fix

Hi.  Chuck Taylor kindly reminded me of a fix posted by Bill Venables:  
In essd-sp5.el change the inferior-ess-help-command to "slynx -dump." I
did this, byte-compiled, and all was well for a while.  Then, out of the
blue, the original problematic behavior returned (complaining about
"cat").  I quit Splus and emacs and started again.  Again, everything OK,
for a while and then back to old behavior.  Just thought anyone working on
a permanent fix might find this useful . . .
