"Selecting deleted buffer" error

I apologize if my questions are FAQs. It's impossible to know since I
don't have the old messages. Has anyone considered archiving them?
It's not a high volume list and it would be helpful for us newbies.
There needn't be a fancy interface. One of the lists I'm on has a link
on (the software's home page) to a simple flat file of all the old
messages.

On to my question:

This happens to me 3 or 4 times a day. I'll be running S+3 under ESS
and I start getting "Selecting deleted buffer" error messages when
executing any ESS command. It seems to be related to ending the S
session but not always.  I have to kill the Emacs session and start a
new one.  (I'm using Emacs 19.34.1 and ESS-5.1.9).
