[R] qvalue error

I am trying to convert pvalues to qvalues.

Here's the command I give:

qvals.sample1= qvalue(pvals.sample1)
q.vals.sample1= qvals.sample1$qvalues

and it returns

[1] "ERROR: The estimated pi0 <= 0. Check that you have valid p-values or
use another lambda method."
Error in qvals.LEC1RT$qvalues : $ operator is invalid for atomic vectors
