I use this function,

	foln = dirname(txt)
	cat(paste("\nFolder name found is: ",foln,'\n'))
	drtext=dir(foln, pattern=pat, full.names = TRUE)
	#cat('\n\n\n\n') 
	return(drtext)
	}
