If we knew what 'this' was, we'd be able to answer your question.  I
can always get my tick labels exactly how I want them.  I'm quite sure
I could get exactly what you want too.  It should be easy for you to
".... provide commented, minimal, self-contained, reproducible code"
as mentioned in the footer to every message on this list.
