[R] best text editor for Linux?

I have tried installing rkward on three different ubuntu systems and
have never gotten past this error:
rkward
/usr/bin/rkward.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/rkward.bin: undefined
symbol: R_LastvalueSymbol
