I tried to install R-base-1.6.0-1.i386.rpm:

> md5sum R-base-1.6.0-1.i386.rpm 
a3e4585c37206aabddd580c3a30a7f37  R-base-1.6.0-1.i386.rpm

and got

(lots of)
user steuer does not exist - using root
user steuer does not exist - using root
var/tmp/rpm-tmp.18919: fg: no job control
execution of R-base-1.6.0-1 script failed, exit status 1

on SuSE 8.0
