It is possible to open the Emacs.app (and emacsclient) from terminal. What
I have done in the past is to put:
alias e='open -a Emacs'
alias ec='/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/bin/emacsclient -c -n'
in my `.profile`. I also typically create an Emacs-daemon so that Emacs
will fire up on system start, which means I can just use the `ec` or
`emacsclient` to open files/buffers. Pretty sure I followed something like
these instructions (to create the Applescript application):

Hope that helps!
