This works.  Thank you!  I have modified ob-julia directly.  Are you
okay if I provide a patch to org with this single line change?  If so,
do you want your name mentioned etc.?

Interesting.  Okay, they are quite useful packages anyway so I will
update the documentation (the little that there is) in ob-julia.el.
