That's a question of habit. For me, as I've shown you with Zsh [1]:
- red is for error messages, and
- black is for common messages (or data) -- that is, correct results.
Though, I won't try to convince you. This would be a sterile discussion,
as it's purely a question of taste -- and we don't discuss taste ;-)
However, in the Emacs philosophy (where everything is customizable), I'd
find it adequate to be able to customize variables / faces / overlays or
whatever to get what I'd like. And the opposite for you: you should be
able to (not) customize and get what you expect (the default, for
example).
Regarding the links, they still would be clearly visible, if (customized
to be) underlined.
IMO we should be both able to customize the layout to match our desires,
shouldn't we?
