[ESS] Wrong type argument: processp, nil

Dear ESS developers,

I recently switched to ESS 12.09-1 (2012-12-21) (under Ubuntu 12.10 with Emacs
24). If I have, say, two R buffers open, then open a new R script (not associated to
any of the two buffers), and execute C-c C-n, I am asked:

If I select *new*, I receive

| Wrong type argument: processp, nil
`----

A bug?
