Hi Regan:
But, what does the OS do to F12? I know I have had various issues
with F11 and F12 over the years. So much so, that we initially did
not use them for anything. It was only after we ran out of F keys that
we decided to use them at all. What do you see in emacs when you type
F1 k followed by F12?

Nothing happens when I hit F12 or F11. "Describe key:" continues to
wait for input. If I hit F10, it says: <f10> is undefined. Similarly,
if I hit F11 or F12, they do not make any noise. If I hit any of my
other undefined keys, they make a tone when hit.
