[ESS] Turn off indentation?

Is  there a way to turn off auto-indentation, or (even better) make it mimic the
SAS editor (to the last line of indentation, completely unaware of syntax, then
further with each new press of the tab key)?

To be honest, ESS 's auto indent doesn't work for me at all, between the comment
realigning strangely and the weird placement of MEND and everything thing else
(indenting SAS is hard, too, I grant).  Syntax highlighting is great, though!
