[ESS] filename completion

Filename completion within ESS has just been just changed.

Currently, if I'm in my home directory in *R*, and do

 "f 

 and then hit TAB to complete the filename,

 I now see the new behaviour:

 "foo

rather than the old behaviour:

 "/home/stephen/foo


Does anyone prefer the old behaviour?  and if so, why?  I think the new
method produces more portable scripts.
