Ah. I've broken something. On Linux (Ubuntu 10.04) with Emacs 23.1.
>From control + TAB, The emacs feedback bar says

<C-tab> is undefined

That happens whether or not R is already open in a buffer.

If you could start me searching for how this was broken, I will try to
figure it out.
