Org mode is deceptive. At first glance, it seems pretty basic, but the
more I use it, the more I realize that it has a lot of very useful
'advanced' features. One such feature is the ability to automatically
generate lists of TODO items from multiple files.
I haven't used it with my R work, but it would certainly be possible to
set it up to automatically generate a list of TODO items that are
specifically related to your R work, including any number of different
.R files. Not that I can tell you exactly how to do that (haven't yet
had the need to dig into it that far), but I know it's possible.
