[ESS] I can not use install.packages

Firstly, you probably do not need to install MASS as it is one of the recommended packages that come with R itself.

Secondly, if you wanted to re-install MASS you would do so by installing the "VR" bundle. MASS is one of four packages written to support some old book or other.

Thirdly, are you sure you are connected to the internet when you try to install packages? If you were not, it would explain why the CRAN mirrors cannot be found (I think!)

Subject: [ESS] I can not use install.packages

I use ess and emacs under windows xp.
I use M-x R to start R in ESS.
when I input install.packages("MASS"),
only display
--- Please select a CRAN mirror for use in this session ---,
then nothing happens.

Why? Have you ever happened to this questions?
Thanks
