[ESS] ESS toolbar not displayed

That is correct behaviour -- the ESS toolbar items are visible only in
the source buffers (such as new.R), not the *R* buffers.

You are using it right!  And yes, ESS could be better documented, but
there are always more pressing issues with coding that normally dominate.
