[ESS] Connect xemacs/ess to an existing R process to use Rmpi?

So to clarify -

you would start in the shell (eshell or similar) within Emacs, and
"capture" the buffer with ESS once you've got the R process running
within it.

(my ancient solution to this problem was to use PVM and was the reason
I didn't like (and still don't like very much) MPI, though I've heard
that recent MPI implementations also have dynamic "cluster
assignments" within a running R process, similar to PVM).
