[ESS] Question regarding mark function in Rnw mode

I am used to the functionality of C-SPC to mark text within Emacs.
When using Rnw-mode, marking behavior is changed when marking through
a code chunk.  Is there a way to have Emacs behave in the standard way
(i.e., not stop marking when it reaches a << or @ command)?

I'm using ESS 5.2.2 under Linux if it matters.
