[ESS] how to reset ESS if color scheme changes?

Most likely you have interrupted the sequence in the middle of
a quoted string. Therefore the colors from that point onward are
out of phase. The repair is easy. Go to the place in the *R* buffer
where it starts going wrong, and type a close quote character.
