[ESS] Copying region in Sweave document

I am using Emacs 21.3.1, ESS from the subversion repository (about
10 days old now), and just got AucTex 11.55. My Emacs is setup so
that S-uparrow will select a region (it runs previous-line-mark) and
when it crosses between LaTeX and R chunks it loses/resets the mark
so I can't copy a region with both LaTeX and R code. If I set the
mark explicitly with C-space (set-mark-command) I can then move to
another location and save the region and this time I *can* save both
LaTeX and R code.

(Using C-space is not a problem for me, so this is just an
observation that seemed to fit in with this thread.)
