Dear All,

John Fox suggested I email in this problem. Has any body come across it before or know of a solution?

I have been trying to load:

ESS and XEmacs for Windows Users of R

I have been following the:

An Introduction to ESS + XEmacs for Windows Users of R

instructions.

I loaded the Xemacs setup file onto my PC then ran it. The following (or similar) error message occurred on multiple occassions.

Can't open packages /c-support-1.19-pkg.tar.gz for reading no such file.

When I come to double-click on the Xemacs icon, I get the following error in Xemacs:

	(1) (initialization/error) An error has occurred while loading d:\Documents and Settings\sco244\.xemacs\init.el:

Symbol's function definition is void: ad-add-advice

To ensure normal operation, you should investigate the cause of the error
in your initialization file and remove it. Use the `-debug-init' option
to XEmacs to view a complete error backtrace.

Hope you can help,
Justin
