ess-5.1.21 installation/configuration on XEmacs 21.1.14

If you read the installation instructions, you will realize that step
is optional.  

After unpacking, simply add the lisp subdirectory to yor load path and
require ess-site, or perhaps adding:

      (load-file "/path/to/your/unpacked/essDirectory/lisp/ess-site.el")

to your .emacs or .xemacs/init.el file will work.

Obviously, replace /path/to/your/unpacked/essDirectory  with the
appropriate path to the lisp subdirectory and ess-site.el file.
