Line Breaks

Rich asked "why is xemacs not detecting the DOS-style line endings by
itself?"  Unfortunately, this is one place where GNU emacs has a
better default.  You don't get the auto-magically identified line
endings unless you specify --with-file-coding when you configure with
21.4 or --with-default-eol-detection for 21.5.  I tried to convince the
XEmacs Project to change this, but they didn't take me up on it.
Right now, that is the default only on Windows.
