smart-comint-up -- on second thoughts

Forgive my ignorance, but what is M-mouse-4?  I assume it means hold M while 
doing something with the mouse.  I have a 3-button mouse and under XEmacs 21.4.8 
I only find M-button1, M-button2 and M-button3.
