Colleagues
Thanks for the suggestions.
I have:
1. upgraded ess to ess-5-1-21
2. edited the .emacs file to remove the correction for c-c c-d under
windows previously provided by Rich.
3. changed the directory for loading ess file ess-site.el to where that file
is located.
4. changed the directory for loading the R executable, R*, to where that
file is located.
5. ran emacs getting this result:
An error has occurred while loading `/home/smc/.emacs':
Symbol's value as variable is void: split
To ensure normal operation, you should investigate the cause
of the error in your initialization file and remove it. Start
Emacs with the `--debug-init' option to view a complete error
backtrace
6. ran emacs again using --debug-init' option
----------------------
Debugger entered--Lisp error: (void-variable split)
eval-buffer(#<buffer *load*> nil "~/.emacs" nil t)
load-with-code-conversion("/home/smc/.emacs" "~/.emacs" t t)
load("~/.emacs" t t)
#[nil "
-----------------------------
Hopefully, you will be able to enlighten me as to the next step?
Sincerely,
Sam
