ESS-5.1.23 difficulties

Hi all,

I'm using emacs 21.1.1 on Win 2000 and have been using ESS-5.1.19 to good
effect -
both for Splus v. 4.6 and R.

I've collected ESS-5.1.23, unzipped the directory under emacs-21.1 and
changed

(load "C:/emacs-21.1/ess-5.1.19/lisp/ess-site")

to

(load "C:/emacs-21.1/ess-5.1.23/lisp/ess-site")

in my .emacs site.

ESS loads R without any difficulties but when I try ESC-x Sqpe+4

I get

Spawning child process: invalid argument

Any help would be appreciated.
