installing ESS with no root privilege

Dear all,

I am trying to install ESS 5.0 on a Sun (Solaris 2.7) where I have no root
access. Xemacs 20.4 is installed on the system, and I installed in my home
directory the last version of R (1.2.1). I had a look at the installation
instructions shipped with ESS, but I can figure out how to install ESS
properly. Did someone face the same situation. Thank you in advance.
