I've just hacked together an S+6 solution.

Note that there are reports of being able to hang ESS/Emacs with
S-PLUS 6 under Linux (Argh...!), but not with the version I'm putting
together (however, what I'm doing won't solve that... sigh).

It should be released with ESS 5.1.19, which morally ought to be the
last release before we head towards 5.2 in earnest.  That version
(5.1.19) should be released either today or Sunday.
